Witness

Seeing without immediate ownership

Definition. Witness is the capacity within the conscious human node to see what is arising without immediately becoming it, owning it or returning it in the same phase.

Witness is not Presence

Presence remains the still reference. Witness performs the discrimination. It may recognise thought, emotion, memory, beauty, fear or distortion while remaining sufficiently unentangled for another response to become possible.

Two octaves of witnessing

The archive distinguishes the ordinary self-reflective witness from a more stabilised Witness. The first can notice the personality having an experience, but may still carry commentary and self-reference. The larger Witness sees the event with less ownership as Presence becomes a clearer reference and Oversoul direction is less distorted in translation.

Recursion and choice

Witness does not erase a loop by force. It creates an interval in which automatic identification may loosen. The human still perceives, interprets, chooses and acts. Witness makes the forming sequence readable before repetition becomes inevitable.
